Arrived at Turley during the winter of 1975 and ETS during the summer of 1978. Took the train from Frankfurt with a couple of rednecks from Oklahoma. They called themselves Mount & Hub.     I ended up with the name Beans. We turned out to be good friends after the word BEER came up in the conversation. Two weeks of head start and learning basic German we were riding shotgun to learn the routes. Mount & Hub went to third platoon and I went to second platoon. A couple of weeks of riding shotgun then you had a rider for a couple of more weeks until they gave the OK to drive solo. Mount, Hub and I were fascinated with Germany for a while. We had all grown up in small cities with dry climates. And of course the BEER was great but took some time to adjust to it.
